Year in Review

2019 in review: Nobody said it was going to be easy! Personalised maps, Humble Heroes & silver linings.

This morning I’m drinking my tea out a mug personalised to Josep.  Josep was the youngest (and craziest) member of our tech team not so long ago.  He wore his heart on his sleeve, fell in love most days and his youthful exuberance could be felt within a 40km radius. We have 24 mugs in the office and sadly many no longer have their namesake sipping from them. Each morning I choose a different mug to remember the person and the part they played in the story of The Book of Everyone. I feel the honesty of Josep is partly responsible for this end of year message.

Humble Heroes

Introducing your Humble Hero

It’s been quite a humbling experience for us. We received so many nominations, including one for a dog, a rescue Staffie called Buddy who recovered from an abusive puppyhood to become an animal charity’s keenest fundraiser, and lead workshops for nervous dog owners. So here’s an honest-to-goodness thank you to everyone and anyone who entered, from the deepest recesses of our hearts here in The Book of Everyone. So who’s the nominee to be cast in bronze? They must have done something truly amazing. And yes they have.

The reason Christmas cards are a pain in the butt

It’s the digital age, it’s easy to keep up with people. You’ve got Facebook, emails, texting and tweeting. You can send a smiley to old friends, thumbs up or down to celebrities and politicians, job done.

But in all that messaging, we lose some of the personal touch. Choosing a skin tone that matches yours doesn’t really make it a personal message, does it?

Celebrate Someone Amazing

How to celebrate someone amazing, amazingly

I’m not talking Albert Einstein, Beyonce or even Rick Astley kind of amazing. I’m talking truly amazing people. The kind of people that have put up with you and your silly ways for most of your life – amazing. The kind of people that really know you with all your foibles and still want to be your friend – amazing. The kind of people that will tell you when you have toilet roll hanging from your pants – amazing. The people who tell you when you are not being amazing – amazing.
